SWiSH is a program that is used to create Flash
animations without using Macromedia's Flash product. SWiSH includes
tools for creating lines, rectangles, ellipses, curves, motion paths,
rollover buttons, and more. Once the animation is created, it is
exported into the SWF format used by Flash so that it can be viewed by
anyone who has Flash Player. SWiSH is a WYSIWYG program, which means you
see the animations exactly as they will appear in the Flash Player. The
development of SWiSH was possible because of Macromedia's decision to
make Flash an open source program, enabling SWiSH to be built on
Macromedia's code.
Web users can download Flash Player to view SWiSH content, which
performs across multiple browsers and platforms. According to an
independent study cited by Macromedia, 89.9 percent of Web users already
have Flash Player installed.
